What Stands Out
The Carbonlite-X is designed for campers who want more interior room and premium hardshell construction without exceeding 100 lbs. Its full carbon-fiber structure, expanded X-hinge design, climate ports, accessory channels, and hybrid mattress make it one of the most feature-rich lightweight rooftop tents in the Highland lineup.
Lightweight by Design
At 93 lbs, the Carbonlite-X stays below our 100 lb limit despite its full carbon-fiber top, base, and X-hinge. The structure prioritizes rigidity and usable interior space without moving into the 130-to-180-pound range common among larger hardshell tents.
Quick Deployment
Integrated T-slots, compatibility with Inspired Overland’s carbon-fiber crossbar kit, dual insulated climate ports, waterproof 2000D Oxford fabric, and a rigid carbon-fiber shell prepare the Carbonlite-X for changing weather and gear-intensive trips.
Built for Adventure
Integrated T-slots, compatibility with Inspired Overland’s carbon-fiber crossbar kit, dual insulated climate ports, waterproof 2000D Oxford fabric, and a rigid carbon-fiber shell prepare the Carbonlite-X for changing weather and gear-intensive trips.
Designed for Comfort
The 85-by-51-inch interior gives two campers more shoulder room than the original Carbonlite. The X-hinge increases front legroom, while the hybrid foam-and-air mattress and insulated roof panel improve comfort, privacy, and temperature control.
The Inspired Overland Carbonlite-X is a strong choice for campers who want more interior room without giving up the benefits of a lightweight rooftop tent. Its 93 lb carbon-fiber construction stays under our 100 lb limit, while the X-hinge creates additional headroom and legroom. It is especially well suited to couples and taller campers who want premium hardshell protection, accessory compatibility, and a more spacious sleeping area.

Will the Carbonlite-X fit my vehicle?
The Carbonlite-X can fit many crossovers, SUVs, trucks, and vans equipped with a properly rated roof rack or bed rack. Compatibility depends on the vehicle’s roof rating, rack capacity, crossbar placement, mounting clearance, and available roof space.
Can it be installed on factory crossbars?
Factory-style crossbars must be approved for rooftop tent use, provide enough dynamic capacity for the 93 lb tent, and leave sufficient space beneath the bars for the mounting brackets. Inspired Overland provides separate installation guidance for traditional and factory-style crossbars.
Can it be installed on a platform rack?
Yes. The Carbonlite-X can be installed on many platform and aluminum-extrusion racks, although some setups may require alternative hardware or a rack-specific mounting method.
Can it be installed on a truck bed rack?
Yes. The bed rack must provide two secure crossbars or mounting rails, sufficient bracket clearance, and enough dynamic and static capacity for the tent and occupants.
Can accessories be mounted to the shell?
Yes. The Carbonlite-X has integrated upper aluminum T-slot channels and can be fitted with Inspired Overland’s carbon-fiber crossbar kit for mounting compatible accessories. Any added crossbars and gear must be included when calculating the vehicle’s total roof load.
Is mounting hardware included?
Yes. The Standard includes 3.5-inch mounting brackets and the standard hardware required for installation.
How many people are needed to install it?
Two people are recommended. Although the Carbonlite weighs only 93 lbs, its overall size makes it awkward to safely lift and position alone.
How long does installation take?
Installation time depends on the rack and vehicle. A straightforward crossbar installation can generally be completed in one session once the rack position, crossbar spacing, and bracket clearance have been confirmed.
What tools are required?
Basic hand tools are typically required to position and tighten the mounting brackets. The exact tool sizes may vary depending on the supplied hardware and rack configuration.
Should the mounting hardware be checked again after installation?
Yes. Recheck the brackets and fasteners after the first drive, after several early trips, and periodically throughout ownership. Hardware should also be inspected after rough-road travel.
How many people does the Carbonlite-X sleep?
The Carbonlite-X is designed for two people and provides an interior sleeping area of approximately 85 inches long by 51 inches wide.
Does the Carbonlite-X have a solid floor?
Inspired Overland uses a crossbar-supported construction instead of a traditional solid floor panel. The design is intended to reduce weight while maintaining support beneath the enclosed sleeping area.
Does the mattress require a pump?
Yes. The hybrid mattress uses an air valve compatible with 1.27-inch pump adapters. A mattress pump is not included.
Can bedding remain inside when the tent is closed?
A limited amount of low-profile bedding may fit. Thick pillows, bulky sleeping bags, and oversized blankets can make the tent harder to close and may place excess pressure on the fabric and vinyl cover.
What are the climate ports used for?
The tent includes two insulated ports designed to route compatible diesel-heater ducts or portable air-conditioning connections into the tent.
Can bedding remain inside when the tent is closed?
A small amount of low-profile bedding may fit, but we recommend keeping it minimal. Overstuffing the tent with thick pillows, bulky sleeping bags, or blankets can create excess pressure when closed and may damage the Carbon Fiber shell.
What warranty does the Carbonlite-X include?
Inspired Overland provides the original purchaser with a two-year limited warranty against qualifying defects in materials and workmanship.
Are replacement parts available?
Inspired Overland lists replacement brackets, gas struts, and other components through its help center and spare-parts catalog. Availability may vary by component and production run.
What should I do if the freight shipment arrives damaged?
Inspect the carton, pallet, straps, and tent before signing the delivery receipt. Photograph any visible damage, note it on the delivery paperwork, and refuse delivery if the tent appears severely damaged.
How should the carbon-fiber shell be maintained?
Keep the shell clean and use the included protective cover during storage. Inspired Overland also recommends suitable UV protection and notes that protective film may be applied for additional scratch resistance.
What should I do if I discover concealed damage?
Stop installation, retain all packaging materials, photograph the damage clearly, and contact Highland Trail Club immediately. Freight claims are time-sensitive and require documentation.
Who should I contact for fitment, installation, or warranty help?
Contact Highland Trail Club first. Include your order information, vehicle details, rack specifications, photographs, and a clear description of the issue so we can review the situation and coordinate the appropriate next step.
